Who, in your opinion, is more hardcore? The Arbiter, or Sergeant Johnson?

The only thing the arbiter has going for him is A) he's an Elite (instant cool factor) and B) he says "if it were so easy"...which is also instant cool...but Johnson in the long run wins

I personnaly feel that Arbiter is cooler. Not only is he an Elite, but he's easily the best Elite. Plus, he killed Truth. That definitely gives him bonus points.

Then who would've killed Tartarus? All the other elites were too dumb and run into his hammer. I guess he could've dual wielded or something.. but that would've been pretty tough.

I don't think using Altair would be a good analogy.

And yeah, The Arbiter makes the occasional war cry, but that just shows you that he's a full fledged warrior, born to fight, born to win. He's also all about honor and whatnot. Chief's not abut honor. He just fights. It's all he knows.

i think if you do over do the whole senseless-murder-silent-killer type, it kinda gets crappy which is why they are starting to move away from the John 117 story line, and to some extent the Spartans in general, going with ODST and things like that, it allows them to do a more human backstory...hopefully they will do something similar to ODST but from an Elite perspective...Halo3: EDST...Elite Drop Shock Troops...lol

I agree, besides Superman, Master Chief is probably one of the most god-modded character in modern day literature, he is my least favorite video-game character ever, there I said it. My most favorite FYI is Aya Brea, who would whoop MC's, Arby's, and Johnson's asses any day.

I'm sorry but I have declare fail on you for liking such a one dimensional character such as the Master Chief, unbelievable.

Now, just for the sake of arguement, I'm going to point out that I didn't specify which Arbiter in the original post (although I was talking about the Arbiter from the trilogy, not Wars). lol So I'm going to go ahead and say that the Halo Wars Arbiter is the most badass dude of them all. He's just... a monster. He flung a gold Elite like he was nothing. That had me ROFLing. And he's also got those two swords with the basket guards. It also helps that he's a bit taller than the average Brute, and twice as scary.

He witnessed his best friends, brothers, sisters MURDERED right in front of his face. His experiences prior to Halo CE scarred him for fucking life. All he wants to do is kick the asses of the fuckers who destroyed the only family he really had, who took away the only real friends and siblings he grew up with. THAT is why he is so serious. The Chief doesn't fuck around, he gets shit done, and he does a fucking good job of it. Next time, get your facts straight before you call a character shallow. MC is a walking one-liner, who tries to be bad-ass and is a failed excuse for a video-game hero. I say they need a new main character for the next Halo games, like Halo 4 if they come out with it. Kill MC, get it over with, bring in a new hero that has a personality.

PWN, the thing that annoys me about the Chief is that he's popular for being popular, like... okay, let's say sthe story started the other way around, where the Arbiter(before he's bestowed that rank) is the main character and gets branded with the mark of shame and whatnot and the Chief comes out of the blue later on in the series. Then people would put up "MC OR ARBITER!?" polls like uasuall, only the Arbiter would be the favorite because he appeared first.

Most of the arguments I hear about the Chief are litterally "HES DA CHEEF! SO HE WINZZ!" not a good argument. If the situation was as I described, people would be shouting out "HES TEH ARBITUR! SO HE WINZZ!" I appreciate why you like him due to his backstory and all, but most of Bungie's fanbase prefer's the Chief and don't read his back story becasue they're probably just learning how to do it. (Fucking first graders on halo, seriously, wtf?)

I think the funniest thing about this is that when halo 2 ended, people were all like "ZOMG I R KANT WAIT UNTIL TRUTH DIESLOL!!!!" They expected the Chief to do it. The Arbiter kills him, and then all of a sudden it's "not epic." I bet if the chief did the same thing, people would be jizzing their pants...

Do you understand why I like him, though? I've read the books and pretty much understand everything about the Chief's background, and I like the character. I don't really care whether or not he is popular, I could care less how many people are OMG HEEZ DA BEST! over Chief. They annoy be a bit, because they don't really have any idea WHY he's the best, but I'm not siding with popularity. I love the Arbiter too, don't get me wrong, I just don't favor him over the Chief.

But I do disagree that he fails to be badass. Look at all the shit he does, without even flinching. Blowing up that Scarab and just strolling out of it, sending that bomb into the Covenant ship and just jumping out of there... just comes off as Badass to me. IMO, badass doesn't need to be a guy who has tons of emotion over kicking ass and someone you HAVE to relate too... do you guys relate to Riddick?

anyway, ultimatly if you take each of the characters, they are badass in their own special way, MC just goes around kicking the c**p out of everything; Johnson is big (as humans go), awesome, and has some of the best lines in the games (i know what the ladies like :D ); the HW Arbiter fulfills the inner psychopath in us all, and the Halo Trilogy Arbiter (Thel Vadam/Vadam'ee) kicks some serious behinds while looking awesome and having plenty of the over-emotional backstory some people enjoy. Simple as that.

That is non canon. It says in Fall of Reach I think it says they can lift an average of 7,000 pounds in their armor, they just put that in for gameplay purposes.

I think the Sergeant has this down when it comes to marksmanship. The arbiter wins when it comes to physical traits, such as health and strength(seeing how he is an elite), but the Sarge survived 28 years of battle with a more powerful foe, not including the Insurrectionists or the Flood.
